National Marking Practices:

All small arms and light weapons manufactured in Iran have an unique marking which allows their identification and tracing.

Accurate and comprehensive records for all marked SALW within their territory:

The records of manufacture, export, import and transfer of arms arem manintained by the relevant authorities in an organised manner.

 
 
 


Measures taken for undertaking traces and responding to tracing requests
:

Following the adoption of the International Tracing Instrument, a study entitled "Reviewing the Procedures of Marking Small Arms and Light Weapons" was carried out.

Operational Informaton Exchange:

Iran hosted the first international conference of the Heads of Interpol of the Islamic countries in Isfahan and is seeking the continuation of this process (ITI, section VI, paragraph 29).

Implementation challenges and opportunities:

Iran held a seminar to promote awareness among relevant officials and agencies of the International Tracing Instrument.

 
 
 

Iran was an active participant in the Open Ended Working Group to develop an International Tracing Istrument
