National Marking Practices :

Articel 28 of the Law on Arms regulates the signs and marks which must be borne by all firearms in the possession of the Armed Forces and government security forces. Each firearms must bear the mark of the manfacturer plus a number composed of the number assigned to the producer, the number corresponding to the type of firearm, a serial number beginning with 1, the last two figures of the year of production and, in the case of firearms belonging to the armed or security forces, the mark of the relevant body: army (ET), Navy (FN), Air Force (EA), Ministry of Defence (MD), Guardia Civil (GC), National Police (CNP) and Customs Service (SVA). In addition to these marks, each arm must bear a proofmark recognised by Spain under the Convention for the Reciprocal Recognition of Proofmarks on Small Arms, 1969.

Article 30 of the Law on Arms requires that all marks, numbers and signs should be carried out by stamping or other techniques which ensure permanancy.
