This training module aims to familiarise trainees with key regional and global agreements on SALW, focusing in particular on the UN Programme of Action on small arms, on which analysis is provided on key commitment areas, strengths and weaknesses and implementation. The objective of the module is to enable trainees to base their work on the political and legal framework provided by global and regional agreements for tackling the small arms problem and influence national policy decisions on SALW or apply pressure on their governments to commit to existing global and regional measures for SALW control. |
