Title : Module VI:Relationship to other Crimes
Description : Module VI was originally inspired by CICAD, the need to implement the 1997 CIFTA Convention (II; XII; XIII d, e, 2; XIV 1; XV 2 a, b, c; XVI; XVII 1,2; XVIII 1,2,3), and the UN Programme for Action 2001 (II 6,27,37,38; III 2,7,9,11,15,18; IV 1,d). The objective is firstly to establish the direct relationships that exist between illegal trafficking of firearms and ammunition and other criminal activities such as terrorism, drug trafficking and money laundering. The module also highlights the importance of information exchange and the need to assess the procedures currently used in each country to combat different types of crime, critically observing strengths and weaknesses while also seeking practical alternatives.
